Villa Ribes is located in Cassano delle Murge, about 30 km from Bari. Cassano delle Murge is adjacent to the Mercadante Forest, whose access is only 3 km from the villa. It is a naturalistic heritage of great importance, with the possibility of following itineraries and routes by bicycle: this area is in fact a well-known destination among cyclists.
In Bari you will find the Basilica of San Nicola, the area of Bari Vecchia, the Norman-Swabian Castle, the Nazario Sauro seafront, the Petruzzelli Theater and the Margherita Theater.
Leaving Bari northwards, you will find the city of Trani (55 km) with its breathtaking scenery, rich in history and harmonious architectural lines, ancient maritime fortress of the Swabian era.
Inland are located Castel del Monte (63 km), one of the 54 Italian sites chosen as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, Alberobello with its typical “trulli” (46 km) and Castellana Grotte (39 km). Altamura, located 14 kms away from the villa, is also worth a visit, with its famous ‘Pulo’ and ‘Uomo di Altamura’ (Neanderthal Man).
Rolling southwards, Polignano a Mare, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic", will leave you speechless, with its crystalline waters and the rock embroidered by cavities dug by the sea.
And last but not least is Matera, the city of the “Sassi” that has been elected European Capital of culture for 2019, is only 31 kms away. At the center of an incredible rocky landscape that preserves a great heritage of culture and traditions, it is the venue for exhibitions of great national and international prestige. In 1993, UNESCO declared the Sassi of Matera a World Heritage Site: with this prestigious award, for the first time UNESCO uses the concept of "Cultural Landscape" among the criteria used to motivate the registration of other sites in the world. Really not to be missed!
