Reach the Sicilian canyons inside the park of Eastern Madonie, 10km from the mouth of the Pollina river. Ride on horseback, following an expert guide, in a corner of paradise that includes the richest geodiversity of the Central Mediterranean. Cross forests of cork oaks, holm oaks, centuries-old olive trees, manna ash trees, and Mediterranean scrub of heather, lentisks, gorse, strawberry trees.
After a few hours of horseback riding, reach the famous Gorges of Tiberius. Here the Pollina river narrows between limestone rock shaped by water over thousands of years, forming places of suggestive scenic beauty. Leave the horse to rest in the shade of the trees of a vast citrus grove, and go down the river bed using rubber boats (with an extra 10€), and admire the wonderful play of light reflected in the water. Weather permitting, it will be possible to stop at a natural beach to swim and sunbathe. Enjoy a picnic lunch after relaxing at the gorges and leave the regional park in the afternoon to drive back to Cefalù.
