Sometimes, a trip to the area nearby is a good occasion to visit those cities you've always wanted to go to. Luckily, Lake Garda is in a strategic position, close to many wonderful cities of Northern Italy.

Verona is surely the closest big city near Lake Garda, as well as the one with the closest international airport. Moreover, it's also easily reachable by train, as there are regular connections. From Desenzano del Garda, Sirmione, and Peschiera, it will be even easier thanks to direct trains, meanwhile, from the Northern side, you can take a train from Rovereto.

It's worth it: Verona is a beautiful city, surrounded by magic and history. It's the place where Romeo and Juliet fell in love in Shakespeare's tragedy: you can visit the main spots, among which there is the balcony of Juliet's house.

In Verona, you can also visit the Arena, one of the biggest Roman amphitheatres in the world, which is still used for concerts and other music events. Piazza Bra and Piazza delle Erbe are also worth a visit, with their fantastic architecture, as well as the bridges on Adige.


Venezia is not that far from Lake Garda almost two hours by car and four by train. A visit to this city is a good option for a day trip that can last one or two days. Moreover, Venezia is irresistible, with its channels, its monuments, and its squares. You will surround yourself with the romantic atmosphere of Piazza San Marco, Canal Grande, and Ponte di Rialto. The history you can breathe in its alleys and channels is precious, as well as its pastel colors and their reflection on the water.


It's very easy to reach Milano from Lake Garda, as they are very well connected. Milano, in fact, can be reached in only one hour and a half by car from the Brescian side, meanwhile, it's two hours from the side of Veneto. The train also represents a good alternative, as from Desenzano del Garda there are trains that reach Milano in one hour.

In Milano, you will visit the Duomo, one of the biggest churches in the world, the Galleria, and Pinacoteca di Brera. You can get lost in the fashion capital of the world, among its shops and chic streets.
