The olive tree is an element that strongly characterises Mediterranean plant life. Due to Sicily’s geographical position, characteristics and history, the olive has come to represent an essential element of the landscape. From Greek times, it has always been considered a sacred tree, due to its fruit and the oil that is obtained from it. The olive tree is a symbol of peace, strength, resistance and purification.
Extra virgin olive oils from Sicily are characterised in particular by their aroma. Sicily is home to specific environmental factors, such as the climate and also the soil, which create a sort of “magic” that is difficult to imitate and export elsewhere and that makes it the best location for the olive tree.
A visit to this establishment will make you aware of how oil is a delicious and simple product, yet complex to create and one that requires care and attention in all phases of production.
During the guided visit, the techniques and phases of production of extra virgin olive oil will be demonstrated in detail. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to taste different types of oil along with bread and other bite-sized tasters of typical products.
We will go for a walk through the olive grove in order to appreciate the wisdom and greatness of our olive trees and to discover a rural identity that is widespread in Sicily.
Further info: The olive groves are a 15 minute drive from the farm.
