The charming medieval village of Castelsardo, one of the most beautiful in Italy, is located on a promontory overlooking the sea in Northern Sardinia, in the center of the Gulf of Asinara. The strategic position has made it a coveted site and inhabited since the dawn of civilization. Today it offers, in addition to a breathtaking view of the gulf, all the charm of its past, starting from the XII century Doria Castle, perfectly preserved and home to the Museum of Mediterranean Weaving, one of the most visited in Sardinia, where you can admire the picturesque baskets of dwarf palm hand-woven with art and wisdom from local women.
In Castelsardo tourism is slower and more aware than in other coastal areas of northern Sardinia. The traditions have remained intact: it is in fact renowned for its craftsmanship and for hosting the rituals of the Holy Week, one of the most exciting traditional Sardinian festivals.
Castelsardo offers the possibility to choose between rocky or sandy beaches such as Lu Bagnu, Punta La Capra, Poltu di La Rena and Cala Ostina. Nearby, do not miss the beaches of Cala li Cossi, pearl of Costa Paradiso, and Stintino with its wonderful beach of Pelosa.
Alghero airport is around a 1-hour drive from the accommodation.
