Fasano, located straddling the provinces of Brindisi and Bari, is dominated by the hills of the jungle that gently slope toward the sea through an endless expanse of thousand-year-old olive trees and characteristic farmhouses. The charming historic center is lime-dyed and the numerous churches in the alleys characterize the setting of the place, along with the imposing historic buildings that tell of this town's glorious past. Piazza Ciaia, the Torrione delle Fogge, and the Church of St. John the Baptist are definitely worth visiting. The hilly area of Selva dominates the city with its villas surrounded by greenery and the Minaret. To the east, on the other hand, you reach the seaside villages, particularly Savelletri and Torre Canne, as well as the Archaeological Park of Egnatia. Just a few kilometers away is Cisternino, a village recognized as one of the most beautiful in Italy; Alberobello, whose famous trulli have been a World Heritage Site since 1996; Ostuni, the famous White City; and Monopoli and Polignano a Mare, ancient fishing villages with a charming historic center and beautiful beaches. To the north (60 km) we find Bari, the gateway to the East, while proceeding south we first encounter the Torre Guaceto nature reserve, then Brindisi to reach Lecce, the capital of Baroque. Moving westward there is Taranto, the heart of Magna Graecia, and finally to Matera, characteristic for its sassi and European capital of culture.
The nearest airports and ports are Brindisi (40 minutes) and Bari (50 minutes).
