Municipality of the province of Catania, Trecastagni rises on the slopes of the volcano Etna, and is one of the municipalities that are located at the highest altitude. The particular conformation of the surrounding area, characterized by a strong slope towards the underlying municipalities of Viagrande and San Giovanni la Punta, makes the position of Trecastagni particularly panoramic: the view ranges from the southern end of Calabria to the Gulf of Augusta, in Syracuse. Among the points of interest of the town there is the Chiesa Madre, built in the 15th century and dedicated to San Nicola di Bari. The town of Trecastagni is part of the Etna Park: its territory includes woods, the typical lava flows but also three volcanic cones. One of these is Monte Ilice, the setting of the famous novel by Giovanni Verga "Storia di una capinera". Trecastagni is a strategic point to visit Etna Park and its craters (20 km) but also other destinations such as the city of Catania (15 km), Acireale (13 km) and Taormina (49 km).

Catania Fontanarossa airport is easily reachable with a 40 minute-drive.
