Palazzo Tursi, Palazzo Rosso, and Palazzo Bianco form the triptych of Musei di Strada Nuova. It is located in via Garibaldi, in the historical center. The main attraction is Sala Paganini, dedicated to the famous Niccolò Paganini. In the room, you can admire the famous violin Cannone, which was used by the musician during his career. Not everybody can play this instrument: in fact, only the winners of the contest "Premio Paganini" are allowed to play it. Furthermore, in Palazzo Tursi there's also a path in the art gallery of Palazzo Bianco. You can admire the statue Maddalena Penitente by Canova.
The ticket costs 9€ (full) and it's possible to admire also the collections inside Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Rosso.
Musei di Strada Nuova - Palazzo Bianco
Near Palazzo Doria-Tursi you can find Palazzo Bianco. The path through the art gallery is common to both of them. There are some artistic artworks realized between the XVI and XVIII century. Among the artists, you will admire Veronese and Caravaggio, Zurbaràn, Lancet and Vouet, Van Dyck, Rubens, Provost, Gerard David, and Hans Memling. There is also a section dedicated to the Genoese painting with some artworks that date back to 1500, 1600 and 1700.
Musei di Strada Nuova - Palazzo Rosso
Via Garibaldi, 18, in the historical center of Genova, you can find the last building of the collection Musei di Strada Nuova (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Palazzo Rosso host some of the most important paintings of the Genoese artists from 1600. Some of the most important paintings are: La cuoca (Bernardo Strozzi), Allegoria dell'autunno (Domenico Piola), Loggia delle Rovine (Paolo Gerolamo Piola), Cleopatra morente (Guercino).
Gallery of Modern Art (GAM)
The villa Saluzzo Serra di Nervi hosts the gallery of modern art (Galleria d'Arte Moderna GAM). Most of the artworks in this gallery used to belong to the personal collection of the prince Odone of house Savoia. Around 1850, the collection was donated to the city of Genoa by King Vittorio Emanuele II. The Gallery of Modern Art hosts more than 350 artworks. The gallery hosts the following artists: Baroni, Nomellini,Barabino, Cabianca, Rayper, Merello, Varni, Luxoro, Guttuso, Zao Wou Ki, Capogrossi, Cagli, Sassu, Mafai, Fillia, Ferrazzi, Casorati and De Pisis.
Museum of World Cultures - Castello d'Albertis
Castello d'Albertis hosts the museum of world cultures. Inside of it, visitors have the chance to discover a collection of archeological remains belonging to the captain D'Albertis, who decided to donate everything to Genoa. There is a permanent collection, where you have the chance to admire the history and philosophy of many nations, such as China, Tibet, India, and the Arab world. The section is taken care of by the Institute of Oriental Studies (Celso). The full ticket costs 6€, while the reduction applies to over 65 and to children from 5 to 12, and it costs 4,50€.
Prince's villa - Palace of Andrea Doria
Among all the museums in Genova, Villa del Principe (or Palazzo di Andrea Doria) earns a special place. The building construction dates back to 1500 and it contains several artworks. Many important artists are exhibited in this palace, such as Tiziano, Piola, and Castello, but also Cambiaso, Perin del Vaga, and Tavarone. The palace can be reached thanks to the underground (stop Principe FS, in direction of Piazza del Principe). The ticket costs 9€, 7€ is the reduced price, applied to over 65 people and students until the age of 26.
Sea Museum - Galata
During a stay in the former Maritime Republic of Genova, a visit to the Sea Museum is necessary. The Museum is near the Maritime Station and inside the Galata. It is the biggest Sea Museum in the whole Mediterranean. The main attraction is the Nazario Sauro Submarine with the acronym S518. The full ticket costs 13€, and the reduced one 11€.
