Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin

Torino

The 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will be hosted by the city of Turin from 10th to 14th of May. The host broadcaster RAI has announced that the Savoy city has all the characteristics to host a global event like this.

Eurovision will be held in Italy because the Italian group Måneskin won in Rotterdam with their song Zitti e Buoni. It represents a very special occasion because the contest hasn't been held in the Bel Paese for 30 years, after Naples (1965) and Rome (1991).

Turin was the perfect choice for ESC 2022

Martin Österdahl, the Executive Supervisor of Eurovision song contest stated: “Turin is the perfect Host City for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest.

As we saw during the 2006 Winter Olympics, Palaolimpico exceeds all the requirements needed to stage a global event of this scale and we have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment from the City of Turin who will welcome thousands of fans next May.

This will be the first Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Italy in 30 years and, together with our Host broadcaster Rai, we are determined to make it a special one.

The city has indeed a high level of preparation for global events, as well as an international airport that will make it easy for fans to travel there.

Italy's history at Eurovision

Italy is one of the Big Five. It was one of the founding members of the European Broadcasting Union with the UK, France, Germany, and Spain. It means that, because of their role in the union, those countries have immediate access to the grand final.

In the course of history, Italy has won ESC three times. Firstly, in 1964 with Gigliola Cinquetti in Copenhagen, with the song "Non ho l'età". Secondly, in 1990, Toto Cotugno won with his song "Insieme". Lastly, in 2021 Måneskin won the contest in Rotterdam with the rock anthem "Zitti e buoni", making them a global phenomenon.

Now it is Turin's time. In 2022, Turin will host the 66th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be the occasion to discover this beautiful and elegant Italian city. So, if you're planning a trip to Turin, you can take a look at our homes and experiences in the city.
