Valentine's Day in Sicily

Sicily

From the west coast to the east one, from Palermo to Siracusa, Sicily won’t disappoint your expectations. Breathtaking landscapes and delicious dinners, there are many things that a couple can do to spend a romantic Valentine’s day on this wonderful island.

In this article you will find some ideas to surprise your sweetheart with an unforgettable Valentine’s day in Sicily.

Palermo

Palermo is incredibly romantic, rich in history and wonderful spots of the sea. Its historical center takes shape from its little streets that cross each other, where you can find hidden treasures such as artisan shops, restaurants, and palaces. This city has always been a point of contact between cultures, whose influence can be found in architecture, food, and colors. You can surprise your sweetheart with a romantic dinner among the little streets of Palermo, then go for a walk on the seafront.

Taormina

On the east coast, Taormina is an elegant town that is rich in history. It has always been linked with ancient Greece, which is the reason why you can take your loved one to the Greek theater and watch a magnificent play. In addition to that, the sea gives that extra touch that will make your day even more romantic: the sunset reflected on the water is a show you can’t miss. Furthermore, the center of Taormina is very evocative, whose streets hide flowered balconies, artisan shops, and spots of the sea.

Marzamemi

Marzamemi is a little fishing village on the east coast of Sicily. It looks like it’s stuck in time, due to its aesthetic and the way it was built. Marzamemi is usually a summer destination, but in winter you can still take a romantic walk on the beach and breath the marine breeze.

Scicli and Noto

Those two towns are the ideal place for Valentine’s Day. They are wonderful places in baroque style and they offer breathtaking spots. Among their streets, there are monumental architectural beauties that mix different artistic styles, especially baroque. This gives a platinized effect to the center, coloring it in gold.

Modica

Modica is home to one of the best chocolate types in the world, and it has a Baroque influence, too. Here, chocolate is an institution: it is still prepared according to an ancient Aztec tradition which was imported from the Spanish people coming back from America. So, Modica is the perfect destination if you want to spend a sweet Valentine’s Day, in the name of good delicious creations prepared by all the cake shops of the town.

Ragusa

This city is located in Sicilian inland and it can be a good option for spending Valentine’s Day in a beautiful place. It was built on hills, so it offers a wonderful view and, together with its baroque historical center, will not disappoint your search for romantic spots.

Siracusa

Finally, Siracusa can’t possibly be missing in this list. Its historical center was built on a small island, Ortigia, which has immense artistic and historical value. It offers both a wonderful labyrinth of little streets and a breathtaking landscape. You won’t be disappointed, finding a restaurant with a view of the sea won’t be difficult.

We also suggest you our wine and local delights tasting in Siracusa in an intimate atmosphere.
