La Cala at sunset

Palermo

From Vittorio Emanuele to the Quattro Canti

Walking down via Vottorio Emanuele, starting from the Cathedral, getting increasingly close to the Quattro Canti, you will see the blue from the sea become closer and closer. But the beauty of the historic buildings, churches and the magic of the atmosphere that you experience walking through the streets might distract your thought.

Could Palermo exist without its sea?

Porta Felice

Continuing along via Vittorio Emanuele, you will reach one of the ancient gates of the city, Porta Felice, which is the one that splendidly frames the gulf of the city.
This area represents one of the greatest areas in Palermo where everyone can enjoy the green space, playing and walking in peace, with a splendid view of the gulf right next to the tourist pier, La Cala.

La Cala

The ancient Greek name for Palermo was Panormos “all good”, which really indicates the importance that the gate has always held. La Cala at sunset and during the evening transforms itself, and reveals its magic.

It is the perfect place to sip a drink admiring the infinite nature of the sea, the docked boats and dream of being on holiday (even for the Palermitans who work in the city). Many people love to run along the stretch of coastline, which, from the La Cala tourist marina, reaches the Sant’Erasmo marina.
