Social Housing in Turin: Housing Giulia

Torino

Social Housing is a phenomenon aimed at offering rent-controlled housing solutions in excellent conditions. In this way, rent is not going to significantly impact the salary. Another purpose of social housing is the creation of a sense of community and sharing.

This phenomenon is taking hold all over Europe, especially in this delicate economy. The housing crisis is getting more serious in the Old Continent, where many people are in a situation of housing deprivation. Social Housing can be an answer to those needs.

The advantages of Social Housing

Social Housing has some advantages, not only economic ones. The most important factor is surely making housing more accessible to people with a low income, but not that low to have access to public housing.

A focal point of social housing is sharing, as the name suggests. In fact, this type of accommodation always has common spaces with services, whose cost is shared by tenants. By doing so, a community is created, which shares many moments of gathering.

Moments of gathering are particularly important, as they encourage the exchange of ideas, experiences, and habits. In fact, people are usually very variegated, and everyone can bring their own views.

Housing Giulia and Wonderful Italy

We at Wonderful Italy partner with the social venture CoAbitare on the project Housing Giulia. It is inside a property owned by the institution Opera Barolo. The company manages also a co-living space, which includes tourist apartments, as well as houses for citizens in need of housing support.

Housing Giulia consists of a complex of 48 apartments, already furnished, which are destined for students, workers, families, and tourists. Those are temporary residences aimed at creating a social district. We manage three apartments in the complex: part of the profits will fund social activities and projects.

The project Housing Giulia is part of our commitment to creating a positive social impact in the areas where we operate. In fact, we believe that tourism is a fundamental resource for the development of the territory.
