Sole Luna Doc Film Festival Palermo 2022

Palermo

Sole Luna Doc is a film festival that takes place in Palermo since 2006. Its 17th edition is scheduled from 4th to 10th of July.

The Festival has the goal of showing documentaries from all over the world, as they want to tell stories and places that are both near and far. Projections have always been made in suggestive places of the city: this year, the festival will take place in the Chiaramonte Steri Complex.

The event is promoted by Associazione Sole Luna - Un ponte tra le culture, a non-profit organization that wants to promote real cinema and give visibility to independent directors. Sole Luna Doc Film Festival uses documentaries as a tool to encourage the convergence of ideas and perspectives from different realities. They are screened in the original language with English and Italian subtitles so that the viewer can dive into the authentic atmosphere.

Thanks to many exhibitions, performances, and presentations of books and projects, Sole Luna Doc moves the attention towards points of view and stories that are less known to the broad audience. Brave documentaries will help the viewer dive into unknown realities and observe them in detail.

Sole Luna Doc 2022: the location

The seventeenth edition of the Sole Luna Doc Film Festival will take place in a spectacular and picturesque location: the Chiaramonte Steri Complex. It's the headquarters of the University of Palermo and it is located in the historical center, near the sea. It is a group of buildings that have merged during the centuries. In fact, since 1330, many palaces of the Chiaramonte family expanded and they became a whole complex, including the prison of Penitenziati.

The festival is listed among the most prestigious events by Regione Sicilia, which recognizes its importance in a cultural and associative matter, as well as touristic. In fact, the Chiaramonte Steri Complex is only the starting point from which to discover the beautiful city of Palermo. From here, visitors can walk among the historical center. They will see with their eyes the architectural, culinary, and cultural influences that have always made Sicily a bridge between Mediterranean people and cultures.
